The project is funded by the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED). The overall aim is to improve the quality of mathematics teaching in Malawi schools. Project is focusing on improving mathematics teacher education for primary and secondary schools. Working with both Mathematics and Mathematics Education at University, hence involving two departments; the Curriculum and Teaching Studies department and the Mathematical Sciences department.

Project has five components:

  • PhD programme,

  • Masters course

  • Professional Development programme for mathematics teacher educators,

  • Research, and

  • Institutional Development.
